As a teenager I loved 80’s Glam/Hair metal like Poison, Motley Crue, Ratt, Etc… and as you may or may not know, these bands wore tones tons of make-up,tons of hairspray and lots of spandex. They were far from gay and the women went CRAZY over them. I know – I was in a glam band and numerous women were around night and day. This is simply a trite statement and I’ve never heard one of the higher gurus say it. But we are indeed learning here. And one of the things we have to learn, along the way, is what is good and what is evil. Rejecting what is evil and cleaving to what is good does in fact lead us to the transcendental in which there is no evil, but only Pure Consciousness.
Would you argue with the prospect that life is for learning? No offense.

Yes, there are a number of variants of this story. It’s a humor story concocted by those who don’t want to look into teachings that at first they can’t understand. With most of such stories, it is unlikely that it happened. One would have to be a major asshole to propose such a thing to a teacher who was leading him to the inner sat-chit-ananda or giving, giving him inner peace, or spiritual understanding. This sort of story is concocted and fancied by westerners who don’t want to investigate or work their minds on the complex Aryan/Vedic philosophy. Again, in the state of duality (and one who is speaking or seeing “another” is in the state of duality), there is indeed good and evil.

Now I’ll tell you some authentic dharma stories. There are other stories throughout India in which a great guru took them up on their challenge, son. These are real stories instead of concoctions from Parisian cafe dawdlers. For example, there was a yogi named Trailanga. He never ate except for a bowl of clabbered milk offered to him by his disciples once weekly. Yet he was 300 pounds. (There are many cases of inedia — non-eating — in both Hinduism and Catholicism. I myself only eat once a day because of my fasting and pranayama, then only a little, after 5 pm.)
A fellow who didn’t like him, or thought he was a fake, offered him a bowl of lye instead of clabbered milk, and Trailanga drank it right down, with no effect. The asshole, however, immediately began writhing on the floor and cried out for help, and for the swami to forgive him.
There are a great many accounts of this nature from India involving masters of the Aryan yoga (which Christ had mastered). A more recent one involved the Jew Richard Alpert, who handed the yogi Neem Karoli Baba a great many LSD pills — a major overdose amount. He didn’t expect the yogi to take them all, but he did. It had no effect on him. Etc. etc.
So your story is just a product of westerners applying their minds to principles they don’t wish to understand. The realization of no good/no evil, which we each experience nightly, is one that if becoming established in it, that non-dual impact starts to be seen around us. (When M. Babaji has been seen in the rain, he never gets wet, etc.) However, few are established in a state of non-duality such as to show forth non-dual phenomena.
Among the legion stories is another where an Indian constable accidentally cut off the arm of a yogi passing by, mistaking him for a murderer they were trying to catch. The police man, realize his mistake, was very upset and profusely apologized. The yogi said “It’s o.k. son,” picked up the arm, stuck it back to against the stump, and walked on. The constable saw him the next day with his arm fully normal.
I have seen and experienced things of this nature myself.
In summary, the story appears to be about an flakey American style guru saying something then interpreted an American asshole style mind, and nothing more. The great gurus know when they see an asshole and don’t try to teach them. They also don’t tell them things that will be beyond their comprehension.
Again, there is the state of dualism (good and evil exists), then the state of samadhi (dualism ends). Those staying established in the state of samadhi (which Christ knew) begin to project signs of non-dualism around them, in their evironment, and can in fact drink poison, etc. with no loss.
