The BBC’s documentary noted that Angleton conspired with the Israelis to place the Liberty on the scene to enable the attack. Then, Angleton and other traitors attempted to trick President Lyndon Johnson into believing the attack was an act of war against the United States by Egypt.
Initially taken in, Johnson ordered a nuclear strike on Cairo, but canceled it only at the last minute when the facts came to the fore, thus scuttling this evil scheme by Angleton and his Israeli allies.
Incidentally, the Israeli attack on the Liberty was covered up by the American press for nine years until 1976, when it was exposed by The Spotlight.
However, the Angleton story gets murkier. Although ostensibly anti-Soviet, constantly searching for a reputed KGB mole whom he said was operating at the top levels of the CIA – a scenario that created havoc within the CIA for years – details ultimately emerged pointing to the belief now held by many former CIA officials (and which was even the conclusion of an internal CIA inquiry) that the mole hunter – Angleton – was, in fact, the mole.

MIAMI (Reuters) – Florida was hit with a complaint filed with the U.S. Department of Justice on Friday accusing it of race-based education goals that violate civil rights law by setting “severely lower expectations” for black and Hispanic students.
The Southern Poverty Law Center and Legal Aid Society of Florida’s Palm Beach County jointly filed the complaint on behalf of public school children.
The complaint said the Florida Department of Education’s recently adopted student achievement goals, under which Asians are expected to perform best and blacks the worst, “violate fundamental civil rights.”
Under a plan drafted in October 2012 and due to take effect in the 2013-2014 school year, Florida set reading goals for public school students under which 90 percent of Asian-Americans were expected to read at grade level by 2018 compared with 88 percent of white students.
At the same time, 81 percent of Hispanic students were to be reading at grade level by 2018 versus just 74 percent of black students.
Similar disparities were predicted in the goals for math.
“Rather than promote equal educational achievement for all, Florida set alarmingly different goals for children of different racial and ethnic backgrounds. Florida’s scheme sets severely lower expectations for African-American and Hispanic students, instead of marshaling its resources to ensure educational equality,” the complaint said.
“By setting lower expectations for already disadvantaged racial and ethnic groups of children, Florida promises that disparities in educational achievement on the basis of race and national origin will continue,” according to the complaint.
The Florida Department of Education said it had no immediate comment on the complaint filed with Anurima Bhargava, chief of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.
Tiffany Cowie, a spokeswoman for the Department of Education, said it had made gains in closing what she called the “achievement gap” between students of different ethnic and racial backgrounds.
“For two consecutive years, Florida has ranked first in the country on the graduation index for Hispanic students according to the 2013 Diplomas Count study,” Cowie said. “We will not allow any politically motivated litigation to slow or stop the progress made by teachers and schools across the state.”
Friday’s complaint said setting lower educational expectations for minorities perpetuates stereotypes and “harkens back to an era that tolerated state-sanctioned racial discrimination.”
It would harm many, the complaint said, since more than half of the 2.7 million students enrolled annually in Florida’s public schools were black or Hispanic.

“Immigration Reform Would Boost Value of Homes, Obama Tells Phoenix Crowd”

President Obama on Tuesday argued that enactment of the Senate’s immigration reform bill would boost home values across the country.
“It’s pretty simple: when more people buy homes, and play by the rules, home values go up for everybody,” Obama said during a speech on home ownership in Phoenix.
Obama conceded that immigration was “something you don’t always hear about when it comes to the housing market,” but he said the two things go hand in hand.
“According to one recent study, the average homeowner has already seen the value of their home boosted by thousands of dollars, just because of immigration,” the president said.
Cecilia Munoz, the director of the White House Domestic Policy council, tweeted during Obama’s speech that it was a “fact” that immigration reform “will substantially increase home values.”
According to data provided by the White House, immigrants accounted for almost 40 percent of new homeowners between 2000 and 2010. In California, immigrants accounted for more than 80 percent of the growth in homeowners, while in New York, more than two-thirds of new buyers were immigrants.
In Southern states like Georgia and North Carolina, immigrants made up more than a quarter of new homeowners, according to the White House.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Twelve additional former students have joined the $380 million lawsuit alleging sexual abuse at Yeshiva University High School.
With the new plaintiffs, a total of 31 people are now claiming school officials covered up sexual abuse at the prestigious school at 186th Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Upper Manhattan.
Plaintiffs’ attorney Kevin Mulhearn said last month that the abuse started in the 1970s and continued into the 1990s. The allegations accuse two faculty members – Rabbis George Finkelstein and Macy Gordon.
The lawsuit filed last month claimed the rabbis repeatedly sexually abused male students, sometimes while claiming to be checking if the students were wearing tzitzis – a ritual garment.
In the lawsuit, one alleged victim claimed administrators offered him a deaf ear when he said a Judaic studies teacher had sodomized him with a toothbrush, according to a New York Daily News report.
The lawsuit said Finkelstein also targeted children of Holocaust survivors, and “implored these children not to add to their parents’ suffering by telling them about the assaults.”
The two rabbis now live in Israel, and have told the Jewish Daily Forward they deny the allegations.
Yeshiva University declined to comment on Wednesday because of the pending lawsuit.

Many in the area argue that their opposition boils down to a simple reason: race. According to the 2010 census, 9 in 10 Beavercreek residents are white, but 73 percent of those who ride the Dayton RTA buses are minorities. “I can’t see anything else but it being a racial thing,” Sam Gresham, state chair of Common Cause Ohio, a public interest advocacy group, told ThinkProgress. {snip}
A civil rights group in the area, Leaders for Equality in Action in Dayton (LEAD), soon filed a discrimination lawsuit against Beavercreek under the Federal Highway Act. In June, the Federal Highway Administration ruled that Beavercreek’s actions were indeed discriminatory and ordered them to work with the Dayton Regional Transit Authority to get the bus stops approved without delay.
Beavercreek, though, isn’t particularly keen to do that. The city council voted most recently on Friday to put off consideration of the matter until later this month. They are weighing whether to appeal the federal ruling, or perhaps whether to just defy it altogether. Appealing the ruling could cost the city hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees, according to a Washington D.C. lawyer the council hired. However, non-compliance with the ruling could cost Beavercreek tens of millions of dollars in federal highway funds.
