NASHVILLE, Tenn. –
A Clarksville man has died from injuries sustained in a shooting at Lee’s Market in west Nashville Friday afternoon.
Moises Cedeno, 32, who worked for A&S Electric Inc., was inside his work van when a young black man attempted to rob him before shooting him in the leg around 12:40 p.m. at the market located on 17th Avenue North at Patterson Street off Charlotte Avenue.
The suspect was seen running away from the scene on a nearby surveillance camera.
Cedeno was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Metro police located the suspect, 19-year-old Matthew McDowell, late Friday night after an officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle at 16th Avenue North and Charlotte Avenue.
An investigation led detectives to McDowell’s residence on 32nd Avenue North where he was taken into custody.
Police discovered a revolver inside a hooded jacket found in his residence. McDowell also implicated himself in the shooting during an interview with police.
According to a police affidavit, McDowell was, at the time of the shooting, free on $15,000 bond for a November 11 arrest for marijuana possession and evading arrest.
His mug shot will be released pending a suspect lineup.
